Outcomes Reflection: Reflective Pedagogy in SLCC’s GIS Program

The Geosciences Department has integrated ePortfolio and reflection practices throughout most of our general education courses. Starting last year, the GIS program started using ePortfolios as professional portfolios. But until recently, the reflections have focused on individual courses rather than program-level reflection. The purpose for professional or industry-driven ePortfolios are to help students showcase their best work in geospatial technology to potential transfer universities and employers. They also provide an opportunity for the department to model for students the type of thinking and learning that will help them make connections among their coursework and the real world.
