Pace University – Increasing our Pace: Measuring Student Learning using Rubrics and ePortfolios

Our Interdisciplinary ePortfolio Assessment Pilot began in Spring 2011 and continued in Spring 2012. Each year, ten faculty volunteered to use the ePortfolio within their undergraduate courses and to allow these ePs to be assessed for University Core Curriculum learning outcomes. Departments from which student work was reviewed include English & Modern Languages, Education, Marketing, Media & Communication Arts, Modern Languages & Cultures, Economics, Accounting, and Art History. Students were required to upload work to their ePs to demonstrate their competencies in at least one of the following outcomes: Written Communication, Information Literacy, and Analysis. A group of reviewers consisting of faculty and academic support staff reviewed the student work using rubrics developed by the ePortfolio Assessment Committee.
